Financial Aid For Moms - Take Advantage of Obama's New Scholarship for Moms Program!
One of the first bills passed by President Obama after taking office, the 'Scholarship for Mothers' program was designed to encourage mothers to continue with their education by offering an affordable option for acquiring college credits. This government program improves the terms of the existing Federal Pell Grant by both increasing the amount of money given and broadening the learning environment. The original Pell Grant amount of $4,050 has been raised to a maximum scholarship amount of up to $10,000. In addition to this monetary increase, Obama's bill expands the coverage of the grant outside of the classroom structure to include distance learning and online continuing education programs.
One of the features of the new Stimulus package, the 'Scholarship for Mothers' program is designed to encourage mothers to further their schooling, thereby allowing them to advance in their current career or seek improved employment with a higher educational degree. Many mothers, such as single mothers that are raising a family without assistance from a spouse, find it difficult to balance the demands of a family with a career.
Like many other people that have felt the sting of the spiraling economy, single mothers oftentimes are living paycheck to paycheck, surviving with only the bare necessities. For these women, attending college is not an option. They find themselves succumbing to dead end jobs with no chance of a better future.
With his commitment to higher education, Obama has enacted a bill which ensures that these women will have the opportunity to attend college and obtain an advanced degree. With a degree in hand, they will find themselves in the position to qualify for better jobs and demand a higher pay scale, thus allowing them to better provide for their families.
